In observance and recognition of Juneteenth, there will be a temporary suspension of work in the District on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Lane closures and work zones will not be allowed for non-emergency work in roadways, alleys and sidewalks within the designated areas. Approved activities may resume Friday, June 20, 2025, during permitted work hours. Read More. 06/12/2025DDOT’s Public Space Regulation Division will be Closed Tuesday, June 17, 2025 Washington, D.C. -- The District Department of Transportation (DDOT)’s Public Space Regulation Division (PSRD) will be closed at Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The closure affects all branches both at 1100 4th Street SW and 250 M Street SE. PSRD will reopen to the public the following day on Wednesday, June 18. Read release

This online system enables home owners, tenants, and businesses alike to apply for
the specific type of public space occupancy, construction, excavation, annual or
rental permit required for use of the public space within the District of Columbia.
Whether you need to occupy metered and unmetered curbside parking, sidewalk, alley
or travel lane areas for your activity or construction related work, TOPS will work
for you. If you are a developer or are in need of a zoning plan review through the
Development Review Branch, TOPS will work for you as well.

You can conveniently create a TOPS account, access it, and apply for a permit from anywhere using your laptop or PC.
