Application: An application for permit is not a permit. Application may be under review, rejected or approved. Even after permit office’s approval, an application may not become a permit until the fees and deposits (if applicable) are paid for.
Permit: When an application is approved, paid for and issued by the permit office or issued by TOPS system automatically (in case of online payment), the application becomes a permit. All permits are identified by a unique permit number. An “Issued” permit remains active and actionable between its start and end date but conditions printed on the permit apply. After expiration, permit status changes to “Permit Expired”.
Submission date is the date when the application was submitted along with all required documents and any applicable application fees. The status of the application then becomes “Pending Assignment". This date may not be same as the date when the application was first created.
